12 Waratahs have been included in the Junior Wallabies Squad, headlined by 18-year old Max Jorgensen, Teddy Wilson and Jack Bowen.

Rugby Australia has named a 40-man Junior Wallabies squad as preparations build for the World Rugby U20 Championship 2023 in South Africa.

The selected players will attend a one-week training camp with head coach Nathan Grey at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra from Sunday 26 February.

The Junior Wallabies are drawn to face Fiji, Ireland and England in the pool stage of the Championship, which kicks off on 24 June.

"It's exciting to name such a strong squad while also knowing we still have a number of players working their way back from injury," Grey said.

"Many of the young players selected showcased their skills at the National U19 Championships late last year, while others have been named on the back of a strong pre-season period for their clubs.

"With the disruptions of the last few years behind us, I'm looking forward to bringing the group together in Canberra and stepping up preparations for a huge 2023."

The World Rugby U20Championship represents the pinnacle of international age-group Rugby and is renowned for providing the game's future stars with a platform to shine before reaching Test level.

At the most recent tournament in Argentina in 2019, the Junior Wallabies demonstrated the promise within the Australian development system, with the likes of Nick Frost, Noah Lolesio, Angus Bell, Mark Nawaqanitawase, Fraser McReight, Ben Donaldson and Lachlan Lonergan guiding the team to the Final.
