Rugby sevens teams from around NSW converged on Forster at the weekend for the 2019 Youth State Sevens Championships.

More than 1200 young men and women filled up the town in what was a great exhibition of the sevens format.

Around town the accommodation was booked out, and the cafes and restaurants were full, but all the action was at Forster Tuncurry Dolphins Rugby Union Club.

Dolphins president Damian Daczko said the event ran like clockwork.

“The championships were a great success. The refereeing was good, the skills we saw on the field were good, it was so great to see so many kids playing the game,” Daczko said.

“They were long days, and wet days, but you couldn’t wipe the smiles off the kids faces,” he said.

“It was so great to see everyone in the town supporting rugby.”

96 teams competed across three age groups in both girls and boys divisions across the three day tournament.
