As we eagerly await the completion of demolition and the commencement of reconstruction of the Sydney Football Stadium (SFS), we have the following update on the project’s progress.

The new development will provide the NSW Waratahs with a world-class facility to call home at Moore Park, with work to demolish the existing SFS progressing as planned.

Demolition is expected to be completed later this year, with approximately 80 per cent of the stadium and ancillary buildings now demolished.

The Stage Two Development Application (DA) has sought approval for the detailed design, construction and operation of the new stadium, with a public exhibition and community consultation process undertaken in July 2019.

Tenders for Stage Two of the project – the construction of a new facility – are currently open, with Multiplex and John Holland currently participating in a competitive tender process.

While Lendlease won’t take part in Stage Two, they’ll see out their commitments to Stage One of the project.

A successful tenderer is expected to be announced later this year following receipt of a Stage Two planning consent.

New South Wales Rugby is in regular contact with the NSW Government and other key stakeholders in relation to project milestones, the timeline of construction and other key details which we will continue to update you on as this exciting project progresses.
