Sydney Women and NSW Country women featured in two entertaining matches, which was an opportunity for the next group of players to get themselves in the frame for Super W selection.

NSW Rugby Pathway Co-Ordinator Matt Evrard said NSW has a strong talent base.

“We used these two games as trial matches for selection to an extended Super W squad. And with the Wallaroos not playing in either of these games, it was a chance for so many other players to perform and play themselves into consideration for Super W selection,” Evrard said.

“We’ve used the two trial games as well as the University 7s games as our primary selection tool for the squad, but we’ve also paid close attention to the players’ performances in their club competitions as well as consultations with their club coaches and presidents,” Evrard said.

An extended squad of 45 will be named soon for a six-week pre-season training programme in November and December.
