There were some good signs throughout the 80 minutes and in particular in the first 30 minutes with Sydney scoring the first try of the match through Tim Clements.

Sydney’s record coming into this encounter had been good winning four of the past five games against NRC teams from the west and in recent years they have performed well on the road.

But it was different in Perth with the home side coming out from the halftime break with a real purpose.

They squandered a try a minute into the second half but only a matter of five minutes later Jack McGregor got them off and running with a converted try that pushed the score 28-8.

From there the tries came in five-minute breaks before Sydney were able to get some return for their efforts through a try to skipper Jack Dempsey under the posts.

But the home side would have the final say in the 77th minute when Rod Iona crossed for a final 63-15 scoreline.

There were plenty of triers in the Sydney side with Lachie Swinton, Maclean Jones, Dempsey and Nick Palmer all big contributors on a difficult afternoon.

Young Will Harrison also did some nice stuff out there at times as did Tyson Davis in the No. 12 jumper before he was switched to the wing in the second half.

Sydney faces Queensland Country on the Gold Coast next weekend before finishing off their season against the Melbourne Rising in Ballarat.
