NSW Rugby Union Chairman, Roger Davis, today confirmed details of the internal and external search to find the organisation’s next Chief Executive Officer.
With the incumbent CEO, Andrew Hore departing at the end of the 2019 Season, the NSW Rugby Union Board seek renewed leadership for the business.
“The Club is poised to enter its next phase of growth and requires a CEO with the skillset, experience, character, leadership and drive to ensure the NSW Rugby Union maximises our huge potential. The governance structure is bedded down, the stadium issue is reconciled, the funding for our High-Performance facility and administration centre is secure and planning is well-underway.”
The role will have a strong emphasis on community rugby. “The community business model has been revamped, but this demands renewal and reinvigoration, and our CEO must inspire and align the Rugby community. Developing new and strong development pathways particularly with junior programs and schools will be a primary focus. Meanwhile, of course, NSW Waratahs success will have a halo-effect on the entire organisation” said Davis.

Davis also confirmed that NSW Rugby Union’s Chief Operating Officer, Philip van Schalkwyk, has been appointed Interim CEO ongoing until further notice.
