It was another strong day of performances from the Youth Boys and Youth Girls squads at the National Youth 7s on the Sunshine Coast, with the Boys once again being crowned national champions.

After notching 13 wins from 15 games across the first day’s play, it started in similar fashion for NSW who would take out 8 of 11 fixtures on a very competitive day.

In the Youth Girls, after winning their opening games NSW 1 and 2 played off in the first stage of the finals – NSW 1 running out 27-5 winners.

NSW 1 would then go onto the final to take on QLD 1 and despite a hat-trick from Bienne Terita, were edged out 19-15 by their northern rivals.

In the Youth Boys, NSW 2 lost their opening fixture against the ACT but finished strongly with wins over Western Australia and Victoria.

NSW 1 won their way through to the final, where they also faced off with QLD 1 – earning a hard-fought 17-14 victory to continue their domination of the annual tournament.

With 3 tries, 8 conversions and some stand out performances across the weekend, NSW 1’s Ben Dowling was named Player of the Tournament.
