NSW Rugby (NSWRU) is once again teaming up with Principal Partner, Daikin Australia to support the game at the grassroots by delivering Junior Packs to rugby clubs across the state.
The popular initiative from years gone by will focus on regions affected by drought and fire in 2020, helping clubs and communities from the bush to the beach.
Daikin and NSWRU have selected seven clubs to receive Junior Packs – complete with Daikin goal post pads, hit shields, rugby balls & carry bags, cones, water bottles & carriers and an air compressor pump – before the start of the 2020 season.
Daikin Australia’s National Marketing Manager, Dan Tosh said that supporting regional rugby clubs was a small way Daikin could help alleviate the pressures recent fires and ongoing drought have created.
“Country areas across the state are doing it tough and it’s been heart-warming to see the way the community has rallied around them,” Tosh said.
“To see what NSW Rugby are doing in partnership with Rural Aid during the 2020 season just shows the power of sport in bringing people together to support a common cause.
“Rugby clubs are the lifeblood of country New South Wales and we wanted to play our part in supporting them by giving away our Junior Packs for 2020 to towns seriously affected by the recent fires.”
NSWRU Country Executive Officer, Stephen O’Brien said the contribution from Daikin would have a huge impact for each of the winning clubs.
“Some country areas have been doing it tough [with drought] for some time now,” said O’Brien.
“You throw the recent fires on top of that and you can see why the ability for clubs to support their players with the necessary equipment becomes so difficult.
“For Daikin to offer their Junior Pack program specifically for country areas in 2020 is fantastic, we’ve seen the benefit it’s had at clubs across the state in previous years and this will be no different.”
Beginning in late-February, winning clubs will be announced weekly (7 in total) before receiving their packs
NSWRU would like to thank Daikin for their generosity in supporting junior rugby again in 2020.
