The NSW Waratahs have welcomed the relocation of the Round 6 fixture between the Sunwolves and the Brumbies to WIN Stadium.
SANZAAR has relocated two Super Rugby matches that were due to be played in Japan during March to minimise the risks associated with the Corona [COVID-19] virus.
This action follows the Japanese Government’s decision to postpone sporting events in the country for at least the next two weeks due to ongoing concerns around the world, including within Super Rugby territories, of the potential further spread of the virus.
The Sunwolves were due to host the Brumbies in Osaka on Sunday March 8 at Hanazono Stadium, with the fixture now moved to Friday 6 March prior to the Waratahs v Chiefs match in Wollongong.
The fixture will kick-off at 2:45pm before the scheduled Illawarriors v Newcastle & Hunter Wildfires at 4:55pm.
It sees a rare triple-header at WIN Stadium, with a huge afternoon of rugby for fans in the Illawarra region.
The change in fixture has been made possible through the coordinated efforts from SANZAAR, Rugby Australia, WIN Stadium the impacted teams and the competition’s respective travel and accommodation partners.
