NSW Rugby has welcomed Brix Rum on board as an official partner, with the Surry Hills outfit set to supply the organisation with sanitising products to assist operations during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The distillery will support the NSW Waratahs – through the production of hospital-grade sanitising products – operating under strict biosecurity protocols, after the squad’s return to training earlier this month.

The Australian owned and operated company was established in 2017 and since that time have cemented their position as one of the country’s premier rum distilleries.

Brix Rum were recently awarded the World’s Best Pot Still Rum at the 2020 World Rum Awards; amidst several gold, silver and bronze medals at spirit competitions the world over.

To help the wider community combat the COVID-19 pandemic, Brix Rum have also turned their hand to sanitising products.

NSW Rugby CEO, Paul Doorn said Brix Rum’s contribution to the NSW Waratahs as they endeavour to return to the field of play was extremely important.

“It’s wonderful to welcome a company like Brix Rum into the NSW Rugby family, they’ve established themselves here in Sydney and are passionate about the game,” Doorn said.

“They produce some fantastic products in normal circumstances and their passion for distilling has seen them achieve some wonderful results in a short space of time.

“To see them so swiftly adapt to the current environment, begin producing hospital-grade sanitiser and ultimately assist us in keeping our training base and staff safe and healthy while at work is something we’re extremely thankful for.”

Brix General Manager, Damien Barrow was excited to be officially supporting the NSW Waratahs.

“Through the production and supply of much-needed sanitiser are immensely proud to have supported our front-line workers during the pandemic,” Barrow said.

“As keen rugby supporters and with our distillery located just around the corner from Waratah's home base, we are similarly excited to now be providing sanitiser to our just as important back line/front row workers in the sporting industry.

“Sport is such an integral part of Australian society and something we too often take for granted so to be playing our part in putting players back on the field by in partnering with the Waratah's is incredibly rewarding."

Brix Rum is based on Bourke Street in Surry Hills and offers classes, experiences, tours and also has a bar and kitchen.
