This Saturday the Junior State Championships will kick off across the State, occupying six venues with over 150 teams and 4,000 juniors participating in the events.
To help the clubs get on the paddock, The Rugby Club Foundation has covered the cost of registration for each team participating over the weekend.
This is one of the many initiatives The Rugby Club Foundation has put in place in order to help grow the game at a grassroots level. Other affiliates The Rugby Club Foundation supports include Country Rugby, Suburban Rugby, Womens Rugby, School Programs and Referee Development.
Ben Gregory, President of New South Wales Junior Rugby Union, is thrilled by the support and said this investment back into the juniors is crucial in helping produce the next generation of local stars.
“For a lot of these clubs who have multiple teams, they could be saving up to a couple of thousand dollars and these savings could go back into strengthening their Rugby programs,” said Gregory.
“For the teams based outside of Sydney, they are already travelling hundreds of kilometres each week to play, which is expensive.
“Hopefully initiatives such as this help clubs and individuals financially so they can enjoy playing Rugby and also watch their children at a representative level.”
With the introduction of NSW Rugby TV, powered by Cluch, Community Rugby has never been more accessible with a smorgasbord of representative, club and school games now available to stream each weekend.
It includes this weekend’s Junior State Championships which will showcase some of the best young talent across the country.
“Having NSW Rugby TV, powered by Cluch, on board for the Junior State Championships is great for hitting a wider audience, especially for those you can’t make it out to the game,” said Gregory.
“It is a really exciting time for the development of grassroots Rugby and the combination of the right investment and resources such as NSW Rugby TV, puts us in a really healthy position moving forward.”
