The NSW Waratahs are proud to represent all the club sides in the state and this is now recognised in the very fabric of the jerseys for 2022 season.

Eagle-eyed fans might have noticed something a little bit different with the numbers of the back of the players match jerseys last weekend against the Fijian Drua, with text written throughout the numbering.

With COVID -19 restricting the Waratahs ability to connect with the community in recent years the Waratahs have come up with the idea of bringing the community to the Waratahs.

The Waratahs have paid tribute to the club sides that contribute so much to our game by featuring the names of all the clubs in NSW in text on the numbers on the players backs.

NSW Waratahs CEO Paul Doorn was thrilled with the latest initiative to foster stronger connections with the community.

“The clubs are the lifeblood of our game and without them there would be no Waratahs,” Doorn said.

“From our trip to the Central West of NSW, to our recent trial match against Shute Shield sides at Eric Tweedale Stadium to Darren Coleman regularly inviting club coaches to watch training, we are determined to create strong connections in the community.

“Featuring the club names on the back of our jersey in 2022 is a small gesture to let the clubs know how important they are to the Waratahs.

“The players are incredibly proud of where they’re from and to be able to represent them not only on the field but on the jersey itself is fantastic.”
