NSW Foundation Western Sydney Rugby

Western Sydney Rugby

Western Sydney is one of the most culturally diverse areas in Australia, with 38% of its population speaking a language other than English at home.  As a low socio-economic region, many children in Western Sydney have not been exposed to rugby and its inextricable mental and physical health benefits. The Positive Rugby Foundation along with NSW Rugby are committed to delivering school-based rugby programs in Western Sydney with the aim of inspiring, developing and empowering young people to believe in themselves as well as teach vital life skills such as teamwork, leadership, trust and communication, as well as creating intergroup tolerance in a multi-cultural environment.

Fundraising priorities include:
  • Support the ‘On the Ball - Skills to tackle life’ program using rugby to teach life skills and inclusion in Western Sydney High Schools
  • Support the development of an active lifestyle and healthy diet program into Western Sydney Primary Schools
  • Create Western Sydney Academies to keep and promote talent from Western Sydney schools and clubs.
