About the NSW Positive Rugby Foundation Classic Coach Online Masterclass

The recent postponement of community rugby has provided the sport with the good opportunity to help coaches be as prepared as possible for when sport reboots across the State.

As such the Positive Rugby Foundation is launching the Classic Coaches Online Masterclass Series, with expert coaches from different backgrounds lending their advice and expertise to coaches of all backgrounds.

Originally designed as a half day mentoring program inline with the Junior State Championships, the online version of the Classic Coaches program will still tap into the wealth of knowledge that exists within NSW Rugby coaches network and will provide grassroots community coaches with the opportunity to learn from experts.

In its first week will be Wallabies attack consultant Scott Wisemantel, renowned international and club coach Alan Gaffney, Junior Wallabies Assistant Coach Shannon Fraser and former NSW Waratahs and Norths coach Simon Cron.

Head of the NSW Positive Rugby Foundation Greg Mumm said this is an opportunity to continue to engage with the community during this difficult time.

“In light of recent events, we thought it was critical to still continue to tap into the knowledge of some of our State’s great coaching network to help develop coaches at a grassroots level,” Mumm said.

“Taking this program online will also mean that more grassroots coaches will be able to benefit from the initiative.

Having come through the coaching ranks himself, Mumm said that the exchange of knowledge between experienced and developing coaches is invaluable.

“We’ve got some of the most experienced and knowledgeable coaches within our system, and for them to be able to pass on their knowledge to help develop the next generation is key to ensuring the future of our great game is in good hands,” Mumm said.

Shannon Fraser will be the first coach to kick off the program on Thursday, 2 April at 12:00pm.

Masterclasses will be uploaded here for further, so stay tuned.
