Participants in the 2021 Emerging Talent Coach Program were treated to a massive weekend of rugby last weekend, aligned with the Waratahs home game.

On Friday night, coaches attended the Waratahs v Force game at Bankwest stadium to conduct some live analysis as the match proceeded.

Waratahs coaches joined the group on Saturday to reflect on Friday night’s game, followed by a transaction of knowledge including sharing preparation techniques and their respective and varied experiences in the game.

The weekend concluded on Sunday, with coaches doing what they do best – coaching! Participants ran the NSW U18s sides through the paces, creating an awesome learning environment for both the coaches and the players.

NSWRU Coach Education and Development Manager Owain Roberts said it was positive to see the group all enjoying the experience.

“The Waratahs home game provided a great opportunity for the Level 3 participants to gather and learn from some of the best in our game,” Roberts said.

“Watching, analysing and then getting to talk through the process with the Waratahs coaches is something that our ETCP coaches learned a whole lot from,” he said.

Following their final group get together, the Emerging Talent Coach Program participants will now be mentored; coaching in their own environments as well as completing their final assessments.
