The NSW Waratahs have confirmed their three home fixture locations for the Super Rugby Trans-Tasman competition, taking their matches north and south, ensuring all of Sydney will have the chance to watch the Waratahs in action in 2021.
Headlining the fixtures is the 2014 Super Rugby Final rematch between the Waratahs and the Crusaders at WIN Stadium Wollongong in Round 3 which also features a family friendly kick-off time of 3pm.
Wollongong Lord Mayor Cr Gordon Bradbery AM said he looked forward to welcoming the Waratahs to Wollongong again.
“Wollongong is a proud sporting city and there’s no better place to watch elite rugby than beside the ocean at WIN Stadium, especially when it’s a family-friendly kick-off time in the afternoon,” Bradbery said.
“It’s great to see the Waratahs back in town to take on our Kiwi counterparts and make the most of the Trans-Tasman bubble.”
Chris Whitaker and Jason Gilmore’s side will open their Trans-Tasman campaign against the Hurricanes at the iconic Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) in Round 1 on Friday 14 May.
The Waratahs head to New Zealand in Rounds two and four, facing the Blues at Eden Park in Auckland before the Highlanders at Forsyth Barr Stadium in Dunedin.
In the final round of Trans-Tasman competition, the NSW Waratahs head to fan favourite Brookvale Oval to take on the Chiefs. The Waratahs sold out Brookvale oval on their last visit to the venue in 2019 and are hoping for a similar result this year.
NSW Waratahs CEO Paul Doorn was thrilled that all fans in the greater Sydney region would have the opportunity to watch the NSW Waratahs in 2021.
“While our new stadium is under construction, we’ve had the opportunity to play matches across the greater Sydney area and give our fans a chance to watch the Waratahs play closer to home,” Doorn said.
“We are delighted to once again play in Wollongong especially with a family friendly kick-off time of 3pm, and to also head to the northern beaches where we enjoy strong support.”
Fans can take advantage of a two-game Trans-Tasman flexi ticket for just $35, which is cheaper than two general admission tickets. These can be broken up across any match, allowing members to redeem multiple tickets to a single game.
