Rugby Learning Centre
NSW Rugby would like to highlight the online education courses that are available through the Rugby AU Rugby Xplorer platform.
Players, coaches, referees and team managers all have access to Rugby Xplorer - which alongside the Rugby Learning Centre includes Rugby AU’s video resources, Rugby AU Laws website and the World Rugby Activate program.
There are plenty of free and paid courses/programs that people can access online.

FREE COURSES
Coaches & Referees
The below courses are designed for coaches, referees but also for those involved in rugby wanting to upskill.
a. Smart Rugby
Smart Rugby is the Australian Rugby Union’s flagship course for building coach and match official understanding of safety considerations both on and off the field.
b. Coaching Kids Rugby U8-12
Kids Coaching is all about having fun, keeping the kids active and teaching them the basic skills.
c. Coach Level 1 and Referee Level 1
Designed to provide those who enrol in the Coach Level 1 accreditation with the skills and knowledge to effectively coach the tactical & technical aspects of each element of the game.
d. Sport Australia’s Community Coaching General Principles course
The course is aimed at first time and beginner coaches (eg. parents).
e. Game Management Guidelines
The Game Management Guidelines Course outline the Law changes and refereeing emphasis for the game in 2020.
f. Australia Institute of Sport Goal Setting, High Performance Decision Making and Motivation modules
These courses were developed by the Performance Psychology Discipline of the Australian Institute of Sport
g. Keynote addresses from the 2015 and 2016 National Coaching Conferences
Presentations from a variety of coaches, from community to Rugby Australia
h. Assessing Coach Program
For Level 2 Caches who are Volunteers, administrators or paid employees who have been nominated by their club, school or union to be an Independent, Qualified Assessing Coach.
i. Touch 7s Referee Program
The Touch 7s Referee course supports the Rugby community to officiate fun, inclusive and safe competitions suitable for all ages and abilities.
j. Player and Staff Integrity Programs
It is important that you understand not only your responsibility to comply with these policies but that maintaining the integrity of the game is a crucial part of playing rugby.
Club Volunteers
a. Play by the Rules Child Protection, Complaint Handling, Gender Inequality and Prevention of Violence against Women modules

b. Fraud Protection for Volunteers
The course provides an overview of the types of fraud commonly found in volunteer organisations and strategies to avoid this occurring in your organisation.
c. Rugby Xplorer Club Admin Program
This course provides an overview how a Rugby Xplorer Club Admin completes Set up, Registration and also match prep and match day tasks for their Club and Teams.
d. Rugby Xplorer Team Manager Program
This course provides an overview how a Rugby Xplorer Team Manager completes match prep and match day tasks for their Team
e. Member Protection Contact Program
For Volunteers, administrators or paid employees who have been nominated by their club to be the Member Protection Contact.
f. Ground Marshal Program
This course outlines the requirements of being a Ground Marshal on match day. It has resources to help prepare for the game and strategies to help manage the crowd.
Medical
a. Concussion & Serious Injury Management
It is important you understand the guidelines, procedures and expectations for managing concussion and other serious injuries
b. First Aid Attendant Kids Rugby U6-12
This online program aims to equip you with some of the first aid skills to manage an injury in rugby union.
c. First Aid Attendant Level 1
For Volunteers, administrators or paid employees who have been nominated by their club, school or union to be the First Aid Attendant on match days.
d. World Rugby programs on First Aid in Rugby, Immediate Care in Rugby, Strength & Conditioning.

a. Assistant Referee Kids Rugby
U8-12 ($15)
b. Assistant Referee
Level 1 ($20) – for those Assistant Refereeing U13-adult game
c. National Coaching Conference videos
($10 each) on Attack, Core Skill, Rugby 7s, Sport Psychology, Tackle Contest, Tactical Development, Analysis, Sport Science, Scrum Mechanics & Defensive systems
