Debuting for the club in 2021, Perese stands as one of the most damaging ball-carrying centres in Super Rugby. Originating from Brisbane and making his Super Rugby debut with the Queensland Reds, we managed to secure the “powerhouse that could lay claim to being one of the most powerful ball carriers in Australian rugby,” as Head Coach Darren Coleman stated.
His breakout season in 2021 saw Perese become the first player since Michael Hooper in 2013 to win the Matt Burke Cup in his debut season at the Waratahs. Perese’s unreal form also culminated in selection in Dave Rennie’s end of season tour on the Northern Hemisphere where he made his Wallabies debut against Scotland and earned two Test caps. The Tahs are grateful to have the powerful ball carrier on board for the 2023 Super Rugby Pacific Competition.
