Local lad, global impact — Lachie Lonergan punches well above his postcode.

A home-grown product of the ACT, Lonergan graduated from Trinity College before earning Australian Schoolboys honours and the prestigious Bronze Boot award in 2017 — recognition of a schoolboy career built on toughness and talent. That promise saw him snapped up by the Brumbies Academy and later selected in the Junior Wallabies squad, confirming his status as one of the country’s brightest young hookers.

Cutting his teeth locally with the Tuggeranong Vikings, Lonergan’s rise continued when he made his Super Rugby debut against the Chiefs in 2020. Since then, he has become a familiar and fiery presence in the Brumbies front row — dynamic around the park, sharp at the breakdown and relentless in defence.

On the international stage, he has earned four Wallabies caps, none more memorable than his heroics in Cardiff in 2022. With Australia trailing Wales, Lonergan crashed over for the match-winning try in the final Test, sealing an unforgettable comeback victory and announcing himself as a clutch performer under pressure.

Regularly lining up alongside his older brother Ryan, Lonergan brings both family pride and fierce competitiveness to the Brumbies pack.

Heading into the 2026 season, Lonergan stands as a proven big-moment hooker — battle-hardened, home-grown and ready to drive the Brumbies forward once again.
