Lalakai Foketi made his NSW Waratahs debut in 2018 and went on the play in thirteen games for the state team. Originally from Hamilton in New Zealand, Foketi first made a name for himself on the rugby field for the Manly Marlins on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. It didn’t take long for his on-field efforts to be noticed where he was selected in the Australian U20s side in 2013 and 2014. While his first taste of Super Rugby came with the Melbourne Rebels in 2014, his road home to Sky-Blue has seen Foketi excel where he has becomw dangerous in midfield. His short stint with Bayonne in France and offer with Bay of Plenty in New Zealand no doubt helped craft his skills for Super Rugby with the Tahs. Foketi’s impressive form in Super Rugby also culminated in his selection to the Wallabies squad under Dave Rennie’s leadership where he made his debut in 2022 and has re-signed until the end of 2024. The Tahs are excited to see Foketi’s physical prowess in action for the 2023 Super Rugby Pacific Competition.
