After suffering a devastating season-ending knee injury early in 2024, Mahe is ready to resume his successful career with the Waratahs. His consistency at Super Rugby level no surprise to Shute Shield fans. The popular hooker won the Ken Catchpole Medal in 2020, with his powerful performances influential in Gordon’s premiership win that year. Born in Tonga, schooled in New Zealand, he began his Australian rugby sojourn in Melbourne club rugby in 2017. Appearances with the Melbourne Rebels 2018 and the LA Giltinis 2021 plus Shute Shield form earned him a Waratahs contract in 2022 and he has not looked back.
