Zac Von Appen

Signed for the NSW Waratahs ahead of the 2023 Super Rugby Pacific season, Zac Von Appen is an exciting new addition to the squad. A graduate from St Augustine’s College, Von Appen joins the side on a wider training squad contract as one of the key contributors to Sydney University’s run to the Shute Shield Grand Final. The 119kg lock comes from a high-performance background after representing Australia in rowing at the U23 World Championships. He is also the son of Olympic Gold medallist Mario Von Appen who represented Germany at the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games as a kayaker. His mother also represented Australia at the World Championships as a kayaker. The Tahs are excited to see Von Appen’s potential come into fruition at the 2023 season of the Super Rugby Pacific Competition.
