Established in 1897, Bonnie Doon is one of Sydney’s most historic golf clubs and will now be NSW Rugby’s official golf course.
The Group One course was recently redesigned by Ogilvy, Clayton Cocking and Mead; while their wedding and function centre can cater for a range of events and host up to 140 guests.
The par 70 championship course is designed for players of all levels, offering manicured greens, elevated tees with sweeping city views and some of the best practice facilities on offer in Sydney.
Bonnie Doon’s golf links border NSW Rugby’s headquarters at David Phillips Sports Complex in Daceyville.
NSW Rugby CEO, Andrew Hore said the partnership made perfect sense given the proximity of the two organisations.
“Bonnie Doon is a fantastic golf course and function centre and being next door for the last 18 months, we’ve already had a bit to do with Richard and his team,” Hore said.
“On a personal level Richard is a huge supporter of our game, and was even named Rugby Australia’s Volunteer of the Year in 2011.
“We’re really pleased to now formalise this partnership and have the opportunity to host functions and events at the Club with members and partners of NSW Rugby – it’s a great facility.
“They’ve got an excellent course and practice facilities and I know a few keen golfers within the playing group speak really highly of everything Bonnie Doon has to offer.
“We’re proud to be working with such a historic and well-regarded organisation like the Bonnie Doon Golf Club, it’s a pleasure to welcome them into the NSW Rugby family.”
Bonnie Doon Golf Club General Manager, Richard Hogg said he was looking forward to working with NSW Rugby and their various partners.
“NSW Rugby are a professional organisation steeped in history both here in Sydney and throughout the state – the Waratahs are a recognisable brand world-wide,” Hogg said.
“To be involved with the various levels of NSW Rugby and their supporters is fantastic for our Club, it’s an exciting partnership for our club and our members to be involved in.
“We’ve had a number of Waratahs players come through the club’s facilities in their spare time, with a few handy golfers amongst the group – we look forward to continuing to host them and now the wider NSW Rugby organisation, its sponsors and supporters on our course and in our wedding and function centre.”
