New South Wales Rugby Union (NSWRU) is proud to announce a new partnership with the Australian College of Physical Education (ACPE), a leading institution in sport and education, to strengthen pathways for aspiring athletes, coaches, and sports professionals in New South Wales.

This strategic collaboration will see NSWRU and ACPE work together to support football talent both on and off the field through joint initiatives that combine sport with academic opportunity. The partnership aims to foster the next generation of rugby players, coaches, administrators, and sport scientists by offering education programs tailored to the needs of the football community.

NSWRU CEO Peter Murphy said the partnership reflects the Union’s commitment to holistic player and personal development.

“This partnership with ACPE represents a significant step in aligning rugby development with education and career pathways. It allows us to support our grassroots athletes beyond the game and help them build futures within the sports industry,” Murphy said.

Under the partnership, NSWRU and ACPE will collaborate on:

· Educational opportunities for players and staff, including scholarships and flexible study programs

· Coaching and sports science internships and placements

· Community and school rugby programs

· Research initiatives supporting athlete welfare and development

· ACPE CEO Debbie Le Roux welcomed the partnership as a natural fit between two organisations passionate about sport and learning.

“We’re thrilled to join forces with NSW Rugby Union to empower athletes through education. Together, we will create an environment where players can thrive academically while pursuing their rugby careers,” Le Roux said.

The partnership reinforces both organisations' commitment to developing the whole athlete and supporting life beyond the playing field. With rugby in NSW continuing to grow, this collaboration will help ensure the game’s future is in capable, educated hands.
