In another step to further enhance the pathways for junior players in NSW, the Generation Blue development programme has been extended to include Under 15s players.

Today NSW Rugby announced the group of 75 players who will compete in this year’s Junior Gold Cup competition, which is designed to shine the light on young talent across the country.

The NSW players have been picked following this year’s Junior State and Junior Country Championships, and the NSW Junior Rugby Union Regional Tournament, which was held in early July.

The players will eventually be selected into three teams to contest the Southern Conference of the Junior Gold Cup and will play matches against the Brumbies and the Force.

Not only will the players benefit from the development opportunities but so too will coaches and support staff.

NSW Rugby Pathways Manager, Matt Evrard, said:

“The Generation Blue Under 15s programme is foundation for our pathways. The aim of this programme is to introduce players and coaches to the Waratah Way of how to apply themselves on and off the field.”

“Players will receive education on nutrition, training, personal development with the program’s primary aim being player welfare. I would like to thank in particular NSW Country Juniors and Sydney Juniors for their tireless work and dedication in supporting this programme,” Evrard added.

The Junior Gold Cup will be held in Sydney in September with the national finals in Brisbane in October.
