The national squad assembles in Runaway Bay on the Gold Coast on Monday as they continue Australia’s preparation ahead of the Championship as well as the World Rugby Under 20 Championship to be held in France this June.

NSW Rugby’s Elite Youth Manager, Pat McCutcheon, said the selection of a significant number of Generation Blue players is fantastic for the State.

“I’m really happy to see a large number of NSW players in the mix. While the final squad is yet to be selected, our objective in the NSW Gen Blue Under 20 programme is to best prepare as many players as possible for graduation into higher honours.”

In the mix is 2017 Australian Schoolboys skipper and flyhalf Will Harrison, who also signed with the NSW Waratahs for three years back in January.

The national camp comes as the Six Nations U20s continues in Europe and the UK with Wales, Australia’s Pool challengers for the World Rugby U20s Championship, currently sitting in fourth place following a shock loss to Italy, 18-7.

Australia will also play New Zealand and Japan in Pool A in France.

Junior Wallabies Head Coach, Jason Gilmore, said: “We have really started to develop our systems and patterns and we’re looking forward to giving more detail to the lads to enhance our preparation.

“We have a talented young group of players and we’re enjoying the hard work as we get ready for the Oceania Rugby and World Rugby U20s Championships.”

The Junior Wallabies will be in camp at Runaway Bay on the Gold Coast from 12-16 March.
