NSW Waratahs Women’s forward, Oneata Schwalger has been awarded a scholarship to undertake a Diploma in Sports Management (High Performance) at the International Sports College Australia (ISCA).

ISCA partnered with NSW Rugby last year, allowing NSW Waratahs athletes gain access to their award-winning courses while still involved in high-performance programs.

ISCA’s Diploma courses are constructed by leading industry experts to provide an unrivalled combination of high performance and sports business principles – capped off by an internship within the sports industry.

Schwagler – a capped Wallaroo who has also played NRLW – couldn’t contain her excitement at the prospect of beginning her studies with ISCA.

“I’m so stoked, so grateful and thankful for this opportunity through the Waratahs to complete this [course],” Schwalger said.

“I’m going to use all the knowledge I have [gained] through what I’ve done in sport over the last 20 years.”

Chairperson of the Scholarship Program, Ann Whitelock Courtney-O’Connor was pleased to provide the first scholarship of their new agreement to Schwalger.

"We are delighted for Oneata and excited about her furthering her career opportunities through this unique education at ISCA,” Whitelock Courtney-O’Connor said.

“Receiving a scholarship is particularly special, it is evidence of her hard work and commitment and deserves to be congratulated.

“We are keen to see more applicants come through the Gen Blue channel, now and in the future."

Schwalger will begin her studies with ISCA in 2020.
