The NSW Waratahs have extended their long-standing association with air-conditioning specialists, Daikin, who return as the organisation’s Principal Partner for a sixth season.

Daikin – Australia’s #1 air-conditioning specialists – have inked a one-year extension of their sponsorship of the Waratahs, in a deal that sees their logo emblazoned across the front of the Super Rugby playing strip.

Originally signing a three-year deal in 2015, this latest extension sees Daikin become one of the organisation’s longest-serving Principal Partners.

The news comes following the announcement of a new broadcast partner – Nine Entertainment Co. – for the next three seasons and the confirmation of the Super Rugby AU competition structure for 2021.

NSW Rugby CEO, Paul Doorn said that the return of Daikin as a Principal Partner was part of a series of exciting developments within Australian rugby.

“We’ve got a brilliant working relationship with the team at Daikin Australia and we couldn’t be happier to have them return in 2021,” Doorn said.

“Like many industries we’ve been faced with plenty of challenges as a result of COVID-19 and Daikin have been with us every step of the way, which speaks volumes about them as an organisation.

“We understand the uncertainty within not just rugby, but professional sport more generally and this agreement will allow us to better assess the landscape throughout 2021 and discuss opportunities for us to continue our partnership with Daikin.

“Our organisations align across a number of key areas and this partnership will continue to be a great fit for rugby in New South Wales.

“To have an organisation of Daikin’s standing across the world as our Principal Partner is reflective of the value of the Waratahs brand both locally and globally.”

National Marketing Manager of Daikin Australia, Dan Tosh said: “We are very excited to continue our sponsorship of the NSW Waratahs and enter our sixth season as their Principal Partner.

“Through our association with NSW Rugby as a whole we’ve had a touchpoint not only with professional rugby but all levels of the game, through initiatives like our Daikin Club Pack giveaways – we love the game and have been so proud to contribute to its development across the state.

“Both Daikin and NSW Rugby share a passion and determination for what we do, and we are very pleased to be able to support them as they enter the next chapter of rugby in NSW.”
