The NSW Waratahs have today confirmed that Daikin have concluded their Principal Partnership following the completion of the 2021 season.

Daikin has had a long association with the NSW Waratahs partnering with the side at the beginning of the 2016 season and featuring on the front of the Waratahs jersey for the past six seasons and the front of the NSW Women’s team in three of their championship winning campaigns.

Originally signing a three-year deal in 2015, Daikin’s extension to the end of this year has made it one of the organisation’s longest-serving Principal Partners.

The NSW Waratahs would like to thank Daikin for their support over the past six years and especially during the past two years which have provided many challenges and uncertainty through COVID-19.

Daikin has not only been a great supporter of the Waratahs but also grassroots rugby, generously donating junior prize packs for the past four years. These prize packs have provided grassroots clubs with invaluable rugby equipment such as goal posts, tackle shields and drinks bottles, with a total of 32 clubs receiving the packs worth over $130,000 in total.

National Marketing Manager of Daikin Australia, Dan Tosh said: “It has been a pleasure to have been the Principal Partner of the NSW Waratahs and to feature on the front of their jersey for the past six years and also to be able to support the NSW Women’s team throughout their successful campaigns since the inception of the Super W competition.

“Through our association with NSW Rugby we’ve had a touchpoint not only with professional rugby but all levels of the game, through initiatives like our Daikin Junior Pack giveaways – we have been able to contribute to its development across the state”.

NSW Rugby Union CEO, Paul Doorn said that while it was a sad occasion to say goodbye to a long-term partner such as Daikin, it opens the door for incredibly exciting new partners to come on board.

“I’d like to thank Daikin for the support of the Waratahs and rugby in NSW over the past six years,” Doorn said.

“Like many industries we’ve been faced with plenty of challenges as a result of COVID-19 and Daikin have been with us every step of the way. Their support of the Waratahs and grassroots rugby during this incredibly challenging time speaks volumes about them as an organisation.

“The Waratahs are one of the most iconic and well recognised teams in world rugby and represent a great opportunity for any Corporation to engage an educated and affluent supporter base on a local, national and international stage, with the front of jersey Principal Partnership being one of the premier opportunities in Australian sport.”
