The New South Wales Rugby Union (NSWRU) has today announced the appointment of the two time Olympian and sports administrator as their new Chief Executive Officer.
With an impressive record of achievement as Head of NSW Positive Rugby Foundation (PRF) over the last four years, Peter has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the game from the grassroots to the professional level, driving significant growth across all the PRF’s programs.
With a proven track record in building relationships across community, government and industry stakeholders, Peter was recognised by the NSWRU board for his skills in communicating and promoting both community and commercial outcomes in his role as GM of the PRF which will be critical for the ongoing growth of Rugby in NSW.
NSWRU Chairman, Tony Crawford, welcomed Murphy’s appointment and said:
‘Peter has done a fantastic job in leading the growth of the PRF over the last 4 years and we are looking forward to seeing what he will bring to the new role as we move forward after the recent restructure.
He has worked tirelessly to enhance the impact of the NSW Positive Rugby Foundation, and we are confident Peter will continue to lead the organisation with the same passion and dedication that has defined his career.’
Incoming CEO, Peter Murphy, said he was excited to be contributing to the continued growth of the game at the grassroots level in his new role:
