The NSW Waratahs Academy have confirmed their U18 teams to face the Queensland Reds this Saturday at GPS Rugby Club in Brisbane.
The Waratahs U18 sides are made up of the best talent in the state, with selection based upon performances in schools and club rugby, ensuring all players in the rugby pathways have the ability to earn selection in the teams.
For two years in a row, the U18 matches have been canceled due to COVID, and Waratahs Head of Talent Management Andrew Cleverley was delighted to have these key matches back in 2022.
“We’re really excited that the best 38 players under 18 across the state have the chance to take on their counterparts across the country and in particular the Reds this weekend in Queensland,” Cleverley said.
“These matches are vital for player development as it’s the first time these young men get to step into a high-performance environment and get a taste of what it’s like to be a professional player.
“The U18’s program plays a vital role in the Waratahs’ pathways, with players such as Tane Edmed, Ben Donaldson, Joey Walton, and Langi Gleeson recently graduating into the main squad and into Wallabies programs from our U18s teams.”
Both matches will be available to be streamed online via the Reds Rugby Facebook page.
