Super Rugby Pacific’s greatest mascot Tah Man well and truly met his match as the NSW Waratahs are set to unveil Tah Woman at today’s captains run at Allianz Stadium.
A champion for gender equality and the growth of the women’s game, Tah Woman has joined forces with Tah Man just in time for the Waratahs’ Super W season opener against Western Force.
The Waratahs unveiling of their new female mascot, Tah Woman, is part of the club's ongoing commitment to promoting equality, growth, and support of women's rugby in Australia.
Tah Woman will represent the organisation at matches and events alongside existing mascot Tah Man, embodying the club's values of respect, inclusivity, and teamwork.
Waratahs CEO Paul Doorn said that the mascot's creation is a significant step forward for the organisation in their efforts to provide equal recognition for female athletes and fans.
"We are excited to introduce Tah Woman to our fans and supporters, and we are confident that she will become a beloved symbol of our commitment to supporting women's rugby in Australia," said Paul Doorn, CEO of NSW Waratahs.
"Our goal is to continue to grow the game for everyone, and we believe that by promoting gender equality, we can create a better future for rugby in Australia.
“We are committed to providing equal opportunities for female athletes, coaches, and fans, and we are proud to have Tah Woman represent our commitment to that cause."
The creation of Tah Woman is just one part of the Waratahs' ongoing efforts to promote gender equality and inclusivity in the sport. NSW Rugby recently outlined its support and focus on the push towards the professionalisation of women’s rugby based on five key principles.
- Raising standards on and off the field
- Creating effective pathways, club, and competition structures to engage and develop talented female players.
- Improving and growing the coaching, off field support and services in HP environments.
- Enabling female players to be the best they can be through professional support and development
- Embedding effective player compensation and career support models
The introduction of Tah Woman is just one part of that commitment, and the team looks forward to continuing to promote inclusivity, equality, and support for women's rugby in the years to come.
The NSW Waratahs Women’s side kick off their Buildcorp Super W campaign this Friday 24 March as part of a huge double header at Allianz Stadium.
