The NSW Waratahs are pleased to announce the signing of versatile forward Fergus Lee-Warner on a two-year deal, bolstering the team's back-row and lock stocks ahead of the 2024 Super Rugby Pacific season.
A product of the NSW pathways, born in Scone, NSW and schooled at The Kings School, Lee-Warner represented NSW Schools II, Easts Rugby Club, and the Greater Sydney Rams before heading over to the Western Force in 2018.
More recently, Lee-Warner was plying his trade in the Gallagher Premiership with Bath Rugby and had signed a three-year contract with Worcester Warriors before the club's dramatic folding.
Lee-Warner was delighted to return home and the opportunity to represent the Waratahs.
“I’m incredibly excited to come back home and play for NSW.
“The move abroad has been a great experience for my rugby development, especially with the forward-orientated game in the North, and something I hope can bring back to the team.
“Being born in NSW, a Scone boy, I always aspired to represent the Waratahs so I’m extremely grateful for the opportunity DC and the team have provided me and cannot wait to rip in.”
NSW Waratahs Head Coach Darren Coleman is thrilled to welcome the forward back to Australia.
“It’s great to be able to bring Ferg home to New South Wales, he’s a proud Country boy who came through the NSW pathways. He will provide that hard edge and high work rate that can be used at lock or number six”.
“Having coached him at Easts he’s a very popular team man and was playing great consistent Super Rugby at the Force before heading abroad.”
Fergus Lee-Warner will join the squad in mid-November for the Waratahs’ pre-season.
