The NSW Waratahs are pleased to announce the signing of Melbourne Rebels hooker Theo Fourie ahead of their 2024 Super Rugby Pacific campaign.

A product of the Rockhampton Grammar School and Souths Rugby Club in Queensland, Fourie was selected for the Queensland Reds Academy in 2019.

Fourie secured a place in the Junior Wallabies squad in 2020 but unfortunately, his aspirations to wear the gold jersey were thwarted by the COVID-19 pandemic, leading to the cancellation of the U20 World Championships that year.

Fourie made his debut for the Melbourne Rebels against the Western Force in 2023 and is looking forward to his move North to the Waratahs in the hope of adding to his Super Rugby caps and developing under Wallabies Captain Dave Porecki.

"I’m really looking forward to getting up to Sydney to train hard and develop my game with the coaches at the Waratahs,” Fourie said.

“They have a world-class facility, they are building a strong program, and have some really experienced front rowers, guys like Angus Bell and Dave Porecki that I can learn from.

I’m ready to work hard and put my best foot forward for selection in 2024”.

Waratahs Head Coach Darren Coleman was excited about Theo joining the squad,

"It’s great to have Theo join us and add to our depth in the hooker position, he’s a tough and determined player who has a solid set-piece.

He’ll enjoy learning from Dave and we look forward to watching him grow.”
