The Waratahs Women show maturity and class in their final trial in Wollongong.

The Waratahs Women controlled the game from start to finish with a dazzling display of gritty defence and relentless attack.

A second-half try blitz secured the win and has built crucial momentum for the Tahs going into their first round.

Margot Vella displayed a dominant performance from start to finish. She got the Waratahs on the front foot with some blinding runs, penetrating the wings of the Brumbies' defence.

Vella was able to cross for two tries and assist a third, showing her class against a strong Brumbies backline.

Layne Morgan stepped up and provided some clean service from scrappy rucks, allowing her forwards to start on the front foot.

Off the back of a dominant scrum win against the feed, Vella was able to grab the first try of the afternoon, stepping and breaking through tackles to dive over the line.

The Tahs were able to muscle their way over again minutes after their first try. Layne Morgan might have scored, but her forwards obliterated the Brumbies against the feed, pushing them back into their goal line, and giving Morgan an opportunity to dive onto the ball.

Poor handling from the Waratahs allowed the Brumbies to get a foothold in the game, eventually scoring a try of their own to take the score to 12-5

The second half started slowly with errors and penalties from both teams. However, the Tahs struck first with Claudia Meltzel throwing a dummy and shrugging off a defender before grabbing 5 points.

The Tahs weren’t done there with Vella assisting the third try of the day, giving Caitlin Halse clean ball to score in the corner.

Minutes later Katrina Barker put a kick in behind the Brumbies defence, Vella was able to cap off the win by collecting the ball and going in for her second.

Ella Ryan was able to convert two tries to give the Waratahs a 29-5 victory at full-time.

The Waratahs now turn their attention to the first round of the 2023 season and their return to Allianz Stadium, where they take on the Force on the 24th of March - tickets here
