The NSW Waratahs Youth Girls Academy Program has wrapped up another successful season, culminating in a thrilling weekend of games in Bathurst. The 2024/25 program showcased the immense talent of young female rugby players across New South Wales, with skill, determination, and sportsmanship on full display.
The NSW Waratahs Youth Girls Academy Program is more than just a rugby competition—it is a complete rugby immersion experience. Athletes participated in an elite-level program that combined:
- Strength & Conditioning (S&C) Sessions – Preparing players for the physical demands of the game.
- Mental Health & Wellbeing Programs – Equipping athletes with skills to manage pressure both on and off the field.
- High-Performance Coaching – Delivered by some of the best rugby minds in NSW.
- Camps & Training Sessions – Building team culture, skills, and game understanding.
The three-day camp leading into the games weekend was crucial in fostering strong connections between players, refining their skills, and preparing them for high-intensity matches.
Following a highly competitive weekend, the NSW Waratahs have announced the Merit Teams for each age group, recognising the standout performers from this year’s program.

With the 2024/25 program now complete, the NSW Rugby Union has confirmed that the Youth Girls Academy will continue next season, solidifying its place as a premier development pathway for female rugby players.
And there’s even bigger news on the horizon—plans are underway to introduce a Boys Academy program, further expanding the opportunities for young athletes across NSW.
“This program is about more than just playing rugby—it’s about creating a pathway for young players to develop, thrive, and take their game to the next level,” said Peter Murphy, NSW Rugby Union CEO. “The success of this year’s academy proves the need for these programs, and we’re excited to not only continue growing the girls’ pathway but also introduce new opportunities for boys in the near future.”
