The inaugural clash between the NSW Waratahs Regional Academy's Northern NSW, South Western, and newly formed Hunter and Central Coast teams has left rugby enthusiasts in awe as young athletes showcased their skills and passion for the sport over the weekend.

The U14s and U16s age groups took center stage in Dubbo, with all three teams demonstrating exceptional rugby prowess.

Spectators were treated to a display of talent, teamwork, and sportsmanship, highlighting the success of the Regional Academy Program in identifying and nurturing promising players across regional New South Wales.

Organisers were blown away by the calibre of play exhibited by the young athletes.

The weekend of games showcased not only the raw talent present in each team but also the effectiveness of the program in honing the skills and passion of these rising rugby stars.

The NSW Waratahs SuperW players and coaches added a layer of excitement and inspiration to the event.

Their engagement with the young players provided invaluable insights, fostering a connection between the aspiring athletes and the elite level of the sport.

Paul Doorn, CEO of the NSW Waratahs and NSW Rugby Union, expressed gratitude for the involvement of the Super Rugby Women’s squad stating,

“Having our Super W players and coaches present was a testament to our commitment to strengthening the relationship between grassroots and elite rugby.

Their presence added a layer of motivation and aspiration for our young talented players and their families.”

The success of the weekend was not only attributed to the players but also to the dedicated coaching and management staff of each team.

Their commitment to developing well-rounded athletes was evident, contributing significantly to the overall success of the program.

The excitement doesn't end here. The NSW Waratahs Regional Academy Program is set to expand, introducing an U18s division and welcoming new teams into the program.
