Shute Shield, Super Rugby and even Sydney schoolboy talent will join forces for Alan Jones’ Baa Baas, who are set to tackle an experienced Classic Wallabies side to raise money for the Lismore Flood Appeal.
Out of the Sydney Premiership competition, NSW Gen Blue U20 skipper Theo Strang, Gen Blue backrower Max Girdler and Warringah’s Sam Ward and Tom Connor.
Scots College’s Brett Wellington has been named on the bench at the riper old age of 17, poised to become the youngest ever Barbarian should he enter the field the play.
Also in the mix is NSW Waratahs winger/fullback Andrew Kellaway, who says he grew up watching the Barbarians and cannot wait to be a part of the club's history.
"Growing up, you always the Baa Baas because they're one of those special teams that obviously don't play often so when they do it's a spectacle," he said.
"The way they play is definitely something you want to be a part of and I'm really hoping and looking forward to potentially being a part of that."
Kellaway's opposite number is Lote Tuqiri, who will line up alongside for the Classic Wallabies with former NSW Waratahs Drew Mitchell and Matt Carraro, while NSW Country Eagles flyer Alex Gibbon slots onto the wing.
Matt Gibbon, brother of Alex, will line up alongside Southern Districts teammate Conor Young and former Wallaby Adam Freier in the front row.
Sitting at No.8 is former Tahs backrower and Aussie Sevens Olympian Pat McCutcheon.
The Classic Wallabies will take on the Barbarians Tuesday October 24 at 5:30pm AEST. The game will be livestreamed on rugby.com.au.
