NSW Rugby Union is proud to announce the appointment of Lakeisha Hull as the organisation’s inaugural First Nations Manager a significant milestone that reflects NSWRU’s commitment to reconciliation, cultural connection and lasting impact for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities across the game.
Announced during NAIDOC Week, Lakeisha’s appointment honours this year’s theme of The Next Generation: Strength, Vision and Legacy by ensuring First Nations voices and culture remain central to rugby in NSW.
“NAIDOC Week is a time to celebrate the oldest living cultures on earth and reflect on how we can build stronger partnerships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities,” said NSWRU CEO Peter Murphy.
“Lakeisha’s leadership will help us build genuine relationships and create more opportunities for First Nations people in every level of our game.”
Lakeisha Hull said she was honoured to step into the new role: “It’s a privilege to lead this work and help make rugby a place where First Nations communities feel heard, respected and empowered. I’m excited to work with clubs, players and communities to embed cultural pride and connection across the game.”
The new First Nations Manager position will focus on growing participation, building cultural competency, strengthening partnerships and delivering programs that reflect the proud history and future of First Nations rugby in NSW.
