Day 2 of the championships was again played in sunny conditions at the Port Macquarie Regional Stadium, and once again the teams had the scoreboard operators working overtime keeping up with the scores.

The Caldwell Cup final saw traditional rivals Illawarra and Newcastle Hunter face off, and after a dour first half, Newcastle Hunter went up several gears to completely dominate the match and run out comfortable winners.

Newcastle Hunter led for the entire match, and the further the proceedings went the stronger they got, with their attack and defence completely blotting Illawarra out of the event.

Mid North Coast created history by winning the zone’s first senior championship title when they came from behind to defeat Far North Coast in an entertaining Richardson Shield Final.

Central West maintained their ranking with a solid win over Central North, while Central Coast finished off with a win over New England in a high scoring match.

The Rowlands Colts Cup final saw neighbouring zones Central Coast and Newcastle Hunter do battle, and once again this match went down to the wire, with Central Coast sealing the result right on full time.

Far North Coast took out the Colts Shield final with an impressive win over Illawarra, Central West secured third spot with a big win over New England, while Mid North Coast rounded out their campaign with a solid win over Central North.

The Women’s Seven’s saw Central West jump out to an early lead, before they had to hold off a fast finishing Hunter in an exciting final.  The Women’s Seven’s proved to be very successful, with the large crowds in attendance over the two days being very supportive of the event.

Dane Sherrat (Newcastle Hunter), Gus Locke (Newcastle Hunter) and Sharnah Stevens (Central West) were named as the Senior, Colts and Women’s Players of the Championships.
