As we draw the curtain on 2024, it’s impossible not to reflect on what an extraordinary year it’s been for rugby in New South Wales. From the thrilling moments on the field to the tireless efforts behind the scenes, this year has truly exemplified the spirit and resilience of our rugby community.

This season has seen incredible milestones, such as:

  • Our first edition of the Waratahs Women’s Shield
  • NSW Schools winning the ASRU Championship in Opens Boys, Girls and U16 Girls
  • 445 more coaches registered
  • A new coaching curriculum was launched
  • A highly successful Pasifika Cup in Western Sydney
  • 30 Get Talkin Mental Health workshops

to name a few.

Each match, training session, and community event has been a testament to the dedication that flows through every corner of our rugby family.

NSWRU is immensely proud of the players, coaches, referees, volunteers, and administrators who have worked tirelessly to make 2024 a success.

It’s their unwavering commitment that keeps our sport alive and thriving. To the fans who cheered from the sidelines, streamed games online through NSW Rugby TV, and travelled near and far to support their teams – thank you for being the heart and soul of rugby in NSW.

NSW Rugby CEO Peter Murphy has shared his reflection on 2024.

"As we approach the end of the 2024 season, I want to take a moment to reflect on what has been both a challenging but rewarding year for NSW Rugby.

Together, we’ve celebrated outstanding achievements both on and off the field, and it’s all thanks to the unwavering support of our dedicated volunteers, coaches, donors, sponsors, passionate fans, and our hardworking staff.

This year has highlighted the resilience, passion, and commitment that make our rugby community special. From the vital development of grassroots & Rugby For Good programs to the incredible atmosphere at all our Rugby Games across the state, none of this would have been possible without your support.

As we look ahead to 2025, I am excited for the opportunities that lie before us. Our shared vision for the future of NSW Rugby is stronger than ever, and I’m confident that the best is yet to come.

Before we embrace the new year, I hope this holiday season provides you with a chance to relax, recharge, and spend time with your loved ones.

On behalf of NSW Rugby, I want to wish you a Merry Christmas, a safe and joyful holiday season, and a Happy New Year.

Thank you for being an essential part of the NSW Rugby family. Here’s to another successful year together!"

Looking ahead to 2025, NSW Rugby Union does so with immense excitement, unity and positivity.

Wishing everyone a safe and happy holiday season.
